When the Israelites were in the wilderness God caused manna to fall from the sky…a sweet bread to satisfy their hunger. He sent enough for every day and He told them to just take enough for that day. But as humans we don’t always listen to God and the folks who grabbed more than the daily portion found their manna full of worms. In Exodus 16:4 God said, “I can test them to find out if they will follow my instructions.” I remember once God told me to take my cassette out of my tape deck in my car. I thought it was not important. But God knew it would freeze over night and that tape deck never worked again. I… like the Israelites, didn’t follow His instructions. There is always a reason God tells us to do something. And even if it is just to see if we are paying attention, it is a good enough reason to listen.
